1. The Director assigns an initial position to each contestant at the start of a session [1]. 2. Tables are numbered in a sequence established by the Director [1]. 3. The Director designates one direction as North, with other compass directions assuming the normal relationship to North [1]. 4. A board is placed in the center of the table and must remain correctly oriented until play is completed [2]. 5. Each pack is thoroughly shuffled before play starts [3]. 6. There is a cut if either opponent requests it [3]. 7. Cards are dealt face down, one card at a time, into four hands of thirteen cards each [3]. 8. The recommended procedure is to deal the cards in rotation, clockwise [3]. 9. No two adjacent cards from the deck shall be dealt into the same hand [3]. 10.
