How do I play?

Answered counted as answered

Asked with: Puerto Ricobg-3076-en-1e

Setup
1. Place the game board in the middle of the table.[1]
2. Place all buildings on their assigned spaces on the game board.[1]
3. Sort the doubloons by value and place them on the bank on the game board.[1]
4. Each player takes one player board, one plantation tile, and a specific amount of money (2 doubloons for 3 players, 3 doubloons for 4 players, or 4 doubloons for 5 players).[1][2]
5. Players store their doubloons on the windrose on their player boards.[1][2]
6. Players choose a starting player.[1][2]
7. The starting player takes the governor card and a blue indigo tile, placing it face-up on any of the 12 spaces on their island.[1][2]
8. Other players take tiles in clockwise order:
- 3 players: 2nd player takes indigo; 3rd player takes corn.[1][2]
- 4 players: 2nd player takes indigo; 3rd and 4th players take corn.[1][2]
- 5 players: 2nd and 3rd players take indigo; 4th and 5th players take corn.[1][2]
Gameplay
The game is played over approximately 15 rounds.[3] The player with the governor card begins the round.[3]
The Round Structure:
1. The player with the governor card takes a role card, places it face-up next to their player board, and takes the action allowed by that role card.[3]
2. Players continue around the table in clockwise order, each taking the action allowed by that same role card, until every player has taken the action once.[3]
3. The left neighbor of the governor then takes a turn: they take a remaining role card, place it face-up next to their player board, and take the action allowed by that card.[3]
4. Players continue around the table in clockwise order, each taking the action allowed by that new role card, until every player has taken that action once.[3]
5. This process repeats, with the left neighbor of the previous card-taker taking a new role card, until all players have taken a role card and all players have taken the actions allowed by the cards taken.[3]
6. After all actions are completed, place one doubloon on each of the three role cards that were not taken by a player during the round.[3]
7. Place the used role cards back on the table next to the unused cards.[3]
8. The left neighbor of the player who held the governor card takes the governor card, becoming the governor for the next round.[3]
Rules for Role Cards:
- A player must take a role card when it is their turn, but they may choose not to use the card's action or privilege.[3]
- The action of a role card is optional (except for the captain).[3]
- The action is always taken first by the player who took the card, followed by others in clockwise order (with the exception of the prospector).[3]
- If a card has doubloons on it, the player who takes the card receives them in addition to the card's privilege and action.[3]
- A role card remains in front of the player who took it until the end of the round and cannot be taken by another player during that round.[3]
Winning the Game
The winner is the player who earns the most victory points.[4]

what this block IS: the PASSAGE SEARCH's own results — the same search that fills this page's closest-passages list — and NOT the passages the answerer read. Answering runs its OWN retrieval: a far wider candidate pool, re-ranked down to a final handful, plus floors this search never applies — the base rulebook, surviving errata corrections, and one slot per book on a multi-book read. Each of those armed only if THIS ask sent what it needs: the boost block names the ids it forwarded, and the scope line names the books it read. A document the answer CITES that no row here names is therefore EXPECTED, not a defect: two searches, two candidate pools, two orders. The answerer's own final rows are shown in their own block below, beside these and never mixed into them.

score = the fused retrieval score (reciprocal-rank fusion over the search arms) — NOT a cosine similarity. This ruling ran the THREE-ARM fuse (full-text + vector + the doc-priority boost arm, which carried the base rulebook and/or the errata corrections this query matched), whose arithmetic ceiling is 0.04918 — all three arms ranking the same chunk #1 (ceiling = arms/(k+1) at k=60). The measured healthy band 0.016–0.033 was measured on TWO-arm asks and does not bound this one: its high end is the two-arm ceiling, and a third arm has room above it. A chunk only one arm ranked highly lands near 0.016 (that one arm's #1 vote), so 0.03 here is an excellent hit, not a 3% match.

per-arm ranks (the rank each search arm gave a chunk): NOT DISCLOSED by the gateway. Fusion happens gateway-side and only the FUSED score crosses the wire, so rulesage cannot show them without a gateway change. The rank column below is the FUSED rank (position in the returned list), which is real.

token count per chunk: NOT DISCLOSED — chunk token counts are not reported on the ask path. The character counts below are of the bounded snippet/quote rulesage actually received — a real measurement of what we hold, never an estimate of the chunk.

what this block IS: the passages the ANSWERING read put in front of the answerer, in the order it read them — the other half of the two reads described above, and the one that decides what the answer could possibly say. Each row names the book it came from and where in that book it sits, what it scored when the search arms were fused, which arm carried it there, and whether the re-ranker chose it or a floor guaranteed it a slot. A row here that no passage-search row names is EXPECTED: a far wider pool, re-ranked, with floors the passage search never applies.

candidate pool: the answering read scored 25 passages, out of a ceiling of 80 set gateway-side. Both figures are reported by the gateway for THIS ask — measurements of what actually happened, not constants read out of anyone's source and printed here on faith.

floors armed for this ask: the base rulebook — armed · surviving errata corrections — not armed · one slot per book on a multi-book read — not armed. Every floor is stated on every ask, armed or not, so a floor that did not apply here is never mistaken for one this app does not know about.

arms fused for this ask: vector + full-text + the doc-priority boost arm. Stated separately from the rows because an arm that ran and carried nothing is a different fact from an arm that never ran.

watchdog
first-token watchdog: 30s per arming window (rulesage.table.first-token-watchdog-seconds), re-armed once by the passages frame — so the worst case before a reader falls back to polling is 60s. Whether it actually fired is a BROWSER-side decision that never reaches the server, so it is not recorded here. The stream path above is the server's half of that story: whether a delta was emitted at all.
num_ctx · think posture
both are the CHILD's settings, not rulesage's, and no ask reply carries them — an answer never states which context window or think posture produced it. The live-seat line above reads them from the running child instead, where the gateway can answer for itself; it describes the child NOW, not this ask.

this game registers NO errata cards (edition 164), so "no registered errata card matched" above could never have matched one

Errata scope: the gate above matched this ruling's own edition only. When an ask also reads an expansion, that expansion's own registered errata cards stay outside the match — a stated phase-1 limitation, not a failed lookup.
