How do I play?

Asked with: Stuffed Fablesbg-233312-en-1e

To play Stuffed Fables, follow these procedures:
Setup
1. Each player chooses a stuffy character card and its matching figure and places 5 stuffing tokens on that character card (light side up).[1][2]
2. Put all of the attribute (purple, blue, green, red and yellow) dice into the dice bag.[1][2]
3. Add a number of stuffing (white) dice equal to the number of $\text{stuffies in play} + 1$ to the bag.[1][2]
4. Add the same number of threat (black) dice to the bag.[1][2]
5. Shuffle the item cards and form an item deck.[1][2]
6. Shuffle the Lost cards and form a Lost deck.[1][2]
7. Create a face-up pile of boss minion cards, then shuffle the remaining minion cards and form a minion deck (for the first game, you will not have any boss minion cards).[1][2]
8. Form the sleep deck by shuffling the Waking sleep card with 2 random sleep cards and setting them face-down next to the play area, then shuffling the rest of the sleep cards and placing them face-down on top of this deck.[1][2]
9. Place status cards, buttons, stuffing tokens, heart tokens, etc. in an easy to reach place.[1][2]
10. Place the Storybook in the center of the play area and put the sideboard to the right of it.[1][2]
11. Choose a player to be the first bookkeeper and give them the bookmark token; play proceeds to the left.[1][2]
12. Choose a story from the Storybook, open it to the story's start page, and read the first section.[1][2]
Gameplay
1. Turns and Movement: The first player (the bookkeeper) takes the first turn.[1][2] If a stuffy starts, ends, or moves over a space with a token, the player must end that stuffy's movement, pause that stuffy's turn, and discard the token.[3]
2. Interacting with the Lost: When a token is encountered, the player to the left of the active player draws a Lost card and reads it aloud.[3] Players may choose to help the denizens, which often rewards the stuffies.[3]
3. Searching: To search, spend any number of yellow dice; if the roll meets or exceeds the target search number, draw an item card.[4] You may equip the item to your stuffy or trade it to another player.[4]
4. Attacking:
* Melee Attack: A stuffy must be equipped with a melee weapon and target a minion in an adjacent space without colored lines in between.[4] Roll red dice; if the result meets or exceeds the minion's defense, the minion is defeated.[4] Defeating a minion rewards the stuffy with 1 button, and if the target was a leader or boss, the stuffy also receives a courageous status card.[4]
* Ranged Attack: A stuffy must be equipped with a ranged weapon and use green dice.[4] This attack may cross solid colored lines (except solid white lines) to target a minion within the weapon's range.[4]
5. Encounters: Minions enter play when the Storybook instructs players to generate an encounter.[5]
* Random Encounter: Shuffle the minion deck and deal a number of cards equal to the number of stuffies in play face-up near the sideboard.[5] The bookkeeper chooses which spaces (marked with a specific icon) to place the minion figures on.[5]
* Named Encounter: The Storybook specifies which and how many minions to use; players collect these from the minion deck and face-up boss cards, then place them on the map.[5]
* Boss Minions: When adding a boss, place dark-side-up stuffing tokens on its card equal to the number of stuffies in play.[5] A boss is defeated by removing 1 dark stuffing token per successful attack until none remain.[5][4]
6. Leaving a Page: When leaving a page, remove any remaining minions and tokens from that page and move all stuffy figures to their cards.[5] Unless stated otherwise, finish the current player's turn before leaving.[5]
7. Minion Turns: If a "surge" results in minions coming into play, the minions immediately take a minion turn.[6]

what this block IS: the PASSAGE SEARCH's own results — the same search that fills this page's closest-passages list — and NOT the passages the answerer read. Answering runs its OWN retrieval: a far wider candidate pool, re-ranked down to a final handful, plus floors this search never applies — the base rulebook, surviving errata corrections, and one slot per book on a multi-book read. Each of those armed only if THIS ask sent what it needs: the boost block names the ids it forwarded, and the scope line names the books it read. A document the answer CITES that no row here names is therefore EXPECTED, not a defect: two searches, two candidate pools, two orders. The answerer's own final rows are shown in their own block below, beside these and never mixed into them.

score = the fused retrieval score (reciprocal-rank fusion over the search arms) — NOT a cosine similarity. This ruling ran the THREE-ARM fuse (full-text + vector + the doc-priority boost arm, which carried the base rulebook and/or the errata corrections this query matched), whose arithmetic ceiling is 0.04918 — all three arms ranking the same chunk #1 (ceiling = arms/(k+1) at k=60). The measured healthy band 0.016–0.033 was measured on TWO-arm asks and does not bound this one: its high end is the two-arm ceiling, and a third arm has room above it. A chunk only one arm ranked highly lands near 0.016 (that one arm's #1 vote), so 0.03 here is an excellent hit, not a 3% match.

per-arm ranks (the rank each search arm gave a chunk): NOT DISCLOSED by the gateway. Fusion happens gateway-side and only the FUSED score crosses the wire, so rulesage cannot show them without a gateway change. The rank column below is the FUSED rank (position in the returned list), which is real.

token count per chunk: NOT DISCLOSED — chunk token counts are not reported on the ask path. The character counts below are of the bounded snippet/quote rulesage actually received — a real measurement of what we hold, never an estimate of the chunk.

what this block IS: the passages the ANSWERING read put in front of the answerer, in the order it read them — the other half of the two reads described above, and the one that decides what the answer could possibly say. Each row names the book it came from and where in that book it sits, what it scored when the search arms were fused, which arm carried it there, and whether the re-ranker chose it or a floor guaranteed it a slot. A row here that no passage-search row names is EXPECTED: a far wider pool, re-ranked, with floors the passage search never applies.

candidate pool: the answering read scored 48 passages, out of a ceiling of 80 set gateway-side. Both figures are reported by the gateway for THIS ask — measurements of what actually happened, not constants read out of anyone's source and printed here on faith.

floors armed for this ask: the base rulebook — armed · surviving errata corrections — not armed · one slot per book on a multi-book read — not armed. Every floor is stated on every ask, armed or not, so a floor that did not apply here is never mistaken for one this app does not know about.

arms fused for this ask: vector + full-text + the doc-priority boost arm. Stated separately from the rows because an arm that ran and carried nothing is a different fact from an arm that never ran.

first-token watchdog: 30s per arming window (rulesage.table.first-token-watchdog-seconds), re-armed once by the passages frame — so the worst case before a reader falls back to polling is 60s. Whether it actually fired is a BROWSER-side decision that never reaches the server, so it is not recorded here. The stream path above is the server's half of that story: whether a delta was emitted at all.
num_ctx · think posture
both are the CHILD's settings, not rulesage's, and no ask reply carries them — an answer never states which context window or think posture produced it. The live-seat line above reads them from the running child instead, where the gateway can answer for itself; it describes the child NOW, not this ask.
