How do I play?

Answered counted as answered

Asked with: Takenokobg-70919-en-1e

Setup
1. Place the pond tile in the center of the table.[1]
2. Place the gardener and the panda on the pond tile.[1]
3. Mix the remaining land plot tiles to form a draw pile.[1]
4. Place the irrigation channels and improvements (sorted by type) next to this draw pile to form the reserve.[1]
5. Set the Emperor card aside and sort the remaining cards by category (plot, gardener, panda) and shuffle them to form three draw piles, face down.[1]
6. Each player receives their own individual board, 2 action tokens, and an objective of each category (which each player can look at but keeps hidden from the others).[1]
7. The tallest player starts the game.[1]
Turn Order and Gameplay
Turn order proceeds clockwise.[2] When it is a player's turn, they must perform two steps in this order:
1. Determine Weather Conditions (Note: The weather die comes into play during the second round of play; in the first round, players ignore this step and proceed directly to the next).[2]
* The player rolls the weather die and applies the effect of the obtained climatic conditions.[2]
* The player chooses which weather condition they wish to apply this turn: sun, rain, wind, storm, or clouds.[2]
* Sun: The player gains an additional action, which must be different from their two regular actions.[2]
* Storm: The player can put the panda on the plot of their choice; to recover from fright, the panda eats a section of bamboo.[2]
* Rain: The player may place a bamboo section on the plot of their choice, up to a limit of four sections per plot.[2]
* Clouds: The player may take one improvement from the reserve and place it on the plot of their choice, or move an existing improvement.[2]
* Wind: The player may (but is not required to) take two identical actions in this round instead of two different actions.[2]
* After applying the weather effect, the player passes the weather die to the player on their left.[2]
2. Perform Two Actions
The player takes two actions which must be chosen from five options, and these actions must be different from one another.[2] The player chooses the order in which the actions are resolved and finalizes their choices by putting two tokens on the appropriate spaces of their individual board.[2] The available actions are:
* Plots: The player draws three plots, chooses one, and places the other two back under the deck, facedown in the order of their choice.[3][2][4] The selected plot is put into play if it is adjacent to the pond or adjacent to two plots already in play.[3][4][5]
* Panda: The player moves the panda in a straight line, any number of plots in the direction of their choice, but not over empty spaces.[3][2][6] The panda can cross or end its movement on the pond.[6] To benefit from the action, the player must move the panda at least one space.[6] The panda eats a bamboo section from the plot where it finishes its movement.[2][6]
* Gardener: The player moves the gardener in a straight line, any number of plots in the direction of their choice, but not over empty spaces.[3][2][5] The gardener can cross or end its movement on the pond.[6] To benefit from the action, the player must move the gardener at least one space.[6] The gardener grows a section of bamboo on the plot where they finish their move as well as on all directly adjacent plots of the same color, provided those plots are irrigated.[3][2][5] A section is not added if a plot already has bamboo at a height of four sections.[3][5]
* Irrigation: The player takes an irrigation channel from the reserve and places it on the border between two plots.[3][2][5] Channels must form networks starting from the pond and cannot be placed along the border of the pond.[3][5] A plot is irrigated if it is adjacent to the pond, has an irrigation channel on one of its six borders, or has a watershed improvement.[3][5] When a plot is irrigated for the first time, a section of bamboo of its color is added.[3][5]
* Objective: The player draws one objective card of their choice and adds it to their hand.[2][6] A player can have a maximum of five cards; if they have five, they must complete an objective before drawing another.[6]
Ending the Game
The end conditions depend on the number of players:[7]

what this block IS: the PASSAGE SEARCH's own results — the same search that fills this page's closest-passages list — and NOT the passages the answerer read. Answering runs its OWN retrieval: a far wider candidate pool, re-ranked down to a final handful, plus floors this search never applies — the base rulebook, surviving errata corrections, and one slot per book on a multi-book read. Each of those armed only if THIS ask sent what it needs: the boost block names the ids it forwarded, and the scope line names the books it read. A document the answer CITES that no row here names is therefore EXPECTED, not a defect: two searches, two candidate pools, two orders. The answerer's own final rows are shown in their own block below, beside these and never mixed into them.

score = the fused retrieval score (reciprocal-rank fusion over the search arms) — NOT a cosine similarity. This ruling ran the THREE-ARM fuse (full-text + vector + the doc-priority boost arm, which carried the base rulebook and/or the errata corrections this query matched), whose arithmetic ceiling is 0.04918 — all three arms ranking the same chunk #1 (ceiling = arms/(k+1) at k=60). The measured healthy band 0.016–0.033 was measured on TWO-arm asks and does not bound this one: its high end is the two-arm ceiling, and a third arm has room above it. A chunk only one arm ranked highly lands near 0.016 (that one arm's #1 vote), so 0.03 here is an excellent hit, not a 3% match.

per-arm ranks (the rank each search arm gave a chunk): NOT DISCLOSED by the gateway. Fusion happens gateway-side and only the FUSED score crosses the wire, so rulesage cannot show them without a gateway change. The rank column below is the FUSED rank (position in the returned list), which is real.

token count per chunk: NOT DISCLOSED — chunk token counts are not reported on the ask path. The character counts below are of the bounded snippet/quote rulesage actually received — a real measurement of what we hold, never an estimate of the chunk.

what this block IS: the passages the ANSWERING read put in front of the answerer, in the order it read them — the other half of the two reads described above, and the one that decides what the answer could possibly say. Each row names the book it came from and where in that book it sits, what it scored when the search arms were fused, which arm carried it there, and whether the re-ranker chose it or a floor guaranteed it a slot. A row here that no passage-search row names is EXPECTED: a far wider pool, re-ranked, with floors the passage search never applies.

candidate pool: the answering read scored 17 passages, out of a ceiling of 80 set gateway-side. Both figures are reported by the gateway for THIS ask — measurements of what actually happened, not constants read out of anyone's source and printed here on faith.

floors armed for this ask: the base rulebook — armed · surviving errata corrections — not armed · one slot per book on a multi-book read — not armed. Every floor is stated on every ask, armed or not, so a floor that did not apply here is never mistaken for one this app does not know about.

arms fused for this ask: vector + full-text + the doc-priority boost arm. Stated separately from the rows because an arm that ran and carried nothing is a different fact from an arm that never ran.

watchdog
first-token watchdog: 30s per arming window (rulesage.table.first-token-watchdog-seconds), re-armed once by the passages frame — so the worst case before a reader falls back to polling is 60s. Whether it actually fired is a BROWSER-side decision that never reaches the server, so it is not recorded here. The stream path above is the server's half of that story: whether a delta was emitted at all.
num_ctx · think posture
both are the CHILD's settings, not rulesage's, and no ask reply carries them — an answer never states which context window or think posture produced it. The live-seat line above reads them from the running child instead, where the gateway can answer for itself; it describes the child NOW, not this ask.

this game registers NO errata cards (edition 108), so "no registered errata card matched" above could never have matched one

Errata scope: the gate above matched this ruling's own edition only. When an ask also reads an expansion, that expansion's own registered errata cards stay outside the match — a stated phase-1 limitation, not a failed lookup.
