How do I play?

Asked with: Cottage Gardenbg-204027-en-1e

To play Cottage Garden, follow these procedures:
Setup
1. Build the Wheelbarrow by folding the front part of the body, then the sides, and finally the back, then insert the front wheel.[1]
2. Place the Nursery in the middle, showing the side with the same number of pawns as there are players on the starting Gardener Space.[1]
3. Fill the 16 Nursery spaces with random Flower Tiles (1 per space).[1]
4. Randomly place the remaining 20 Flower Tiles in a path next to the Nursery and place the Wheelbarrow at one end to mark the start of the Garden Path.[1]
5. Each player receives a Planting Table and places 3 orange and 3 blue Scoring Cubes on the Starting Space.[1]
6. Each player randomly draws 2 Flowerbeds, placing them next to their Planting Table with one showing the lighter side and one showing the darker side.[1]
7. Each player takes 2 Cats.[1]
8. Place one remaining Flowerbed (light side up), the Parasol, the remaining Cats, the Flower Pots, and the Beehives beside the Nursery.[1]
9. Place the Gardener with the 1 face showing (or 2 face for 1-2 players) on the Gardener Space in the Nursery corresponding to the number of players.[1]
Gameplay
1. Players take turns in a clockwise direction.[1]
2. A turn consists of four phases performed in order: Refilling Phase, Planting Phase, Scoring Phase, and Gardener Phase.[1]
3. Refilling Phase: Check the Nursery spaces in the Gardener Row indicated by the current position of the Gardener.[2] If 3 or 4 spaces are empty, fill them using Flower Tiles from the Garden Path by taking the tile directly in front of the Wheelbarrow and placing it on the empty space closest to the Gardener, then pushing the Wheelbarrow ahead; repeat until the row is filled or tiles run out.[2] If only 1 or 2 spaces are empty, you may refill the row by returning a Cat to the General Supply.[2]
4. Planting Phase: You must take one of two actions and may not pass: choose a Flower Tile from the Gardener Row and place it on one of your Flowerbeds, or take a Flower Pot from the General Supply and place it on one of your Flowerbeds.[2] Additionally, you can always place Cats from your reserve on an empty space of one of your Flowerbeds.[2]
5. Scoring Phase: Score a Flowerbed when there are no more free spaces visible on it.[3] You receive points for all visible Flower Pots and Garden Cloches on the completed Flowerbed.[3] Once completed, remove the Flowerbed from the game and exchange it for a new, unplanted one.[3]
6. Gardener Phase: At the end of your turn, move the Gardener Die one space further along the edge of the board in the direction of the arrows (clockwise).[4] Whenever you reach the Turning Space, immediately increase the number on the Gardener die by 1.[4] When the Gardener shows 6, the Final Round begins.[4]
Final Round
1. At the start of the Final Round, immediately give up all Flowerbeds with fewer than three Flower Tiles (Cats and Flower Pots do not count towards this total).[5]
2. Before each turn, lose 2 points by moving 1 orange cube back two spaces on its Scoring Track or 1 blue cube back 1 space (or 5-6 points if forced to move from a specific target space).[5]
3. On your turn, only perform the Gardener Phase.[5]
4. Continue playing with these rule changes until there are no Flowerbeds left in front of the players.[5]
Ending the Game
1. The game ends once all Flowerbeds have been removed from the game.[5]
2. Total your points.[5] The player with the most points is the winner.[5][3][6]

what this block IS: the PASSAGE SEARCH's own results — the same search that fills this page's closest-passages list — and NOT the passages the answerer read. Answering runs its OWN retrieval: a far wider candidate pool, re-ranked down to a final handful, plus floors this search never applies — the base rulebook, surviving errata corrections, and one slot per book on a multi-book read. Each of those armed only if THIS ask sent what it needs: the boost block names the ids it forwarded, and the scope line names the books it read. A document the answer CITES that no row here names is therefore EXPECTED, not a defect: two searches, two candidate pools, two orders. The answerer's own final rows are shown in their own block below, beside these and never mixed into them.

score = the fused retrieval score (reciprocal-rank fusion over the search arms) — NOT a cosine similarity. This ruling ran the THREE-ARM fuse (full-text + vector + the doc-priority boost arm, which carried the base rulebook and/or the errata corrections this query matched), whose arithmetic ceiling is 0.04918 — all three arms ranking the same chunk #1 (ceiling = arms/(k+1) at k=60). The measured healthy band 0.016–0.033 was measured on TWO-arm asks and does not bound this one: its high end is the two-arm ceiling, and a third arm has room above it. A chunk only one arm ranked highly lands near 0.016 (that one arm's #1 vote), so 0.03 here is an excellent hit, not a 3% match.

per-arm ranks (the rank each search arm gave a chunk): NOT DISCLOSED by the gateway. Fusion happens gateway-side and only the FUSED score crosses the wire, so rulesage cannot show them without a gateway change. The rank column below is the FUSED rank (position in the returned list), which is real.

token count per chunk: NOT DISCLOSED — chunk token counts are not reported on the ask path. The character counts below are of the bounded snippet/quote rulesage actually received — a real measurement of what we hold, never an estimate of the chunk.

what this block IS: the passages the ANSWERING read put in front of the answerer, in the order it read them — the other half of the two reads described above, and the one that decides what the answer could possibly say. Each row names the book it came from and where in that book it sits, what it scored when the search arms were fused, which arm carried it there, and whether the re-ranker chose it or a floor guaranteed it a slot. A row here that no passage-search row names is EXPECTED: a far wider pool, re-ranked, with floors the passage search never applies.

candidate pool: the answering read scored 14 passages, out of a ceiling of 80 set gateway-side. Both figures are reported by the gateway for THIS ask — measurements of what actually happened, not constants read out of anyone's source and printed here on faith.

floors armed for this ask: the base rulebook — armed · surviving errata corrections — not armed · one slot per book on a multi-book read — not armed. Every floor is stated on every ask, armed or not, so a floor that did not apply here is never mistaken for one this app does not know about.

arms fused for this ask: vector + full-text + the doc-priority boost arm. Stated separately from the rows because an arm that ran and carried nothing is a different fact from an arm that never ran.

first-token watchdog: 30s per arming window (rulesage.table.first-token-watchdog-seconds), re-armed once by the passages frame — so the worst case before a reader falls back to polling is 60s. Whether it actually fired is a BROWSER-side decision that never reaches the server, so it is not recorded here. The stream path above is the server's half of that story: whether a delta was emitted at all.

this game registers NO errata cards (edition 1036), so "no registered errata card matched" above could never have matched one

Errata scope: the gate above matched this ruling's own edition only. When an ask also reads an expansion, that expansion's own registered errata cards stay outside the match — a stated phase-1 limitation, not a failed lookup.
