How do I play?

Asked with: Outlivebg-191051-en-1e

Outlive lasts for 6 days (6 turns).[1] Each game turn is split into three phases: Dawn, Day, and Night.[1]
Setup
1. Each player chooses a color and the corresponding Shelter.[2]
2. Place your Radioactivity Tracer on the '0' position of your Radioactivity Gauge.[2]
3. Place the 3 Standard Rooms (Unbuilt side face up) on the left three spaces of your Shelter.[2]
4. Draw 6 advanced Rooms and 2 Leader cards; choose 4 Advanced Rooms to place on the center column of your Shelter (Unbuilt side) and discard the remaining 2.[2]
5. Build one of the 7 Rooms of your Shelter for free by flipping it to its Built side.[2]
6. Place 4 Survivor tokens on the available spaces of this room and/or in your Airlock.[2]
7. Choose one of the two Leaders drawn and discard the other; this Leader determines starting positions, Resources, Equipment, and play order.[2]
8. Place your Heroes on the board, starting Resources in the corresponding storage area on your Shelter, and any Equipment the Leader possesses to the left of your Shelter.[2]
9. The player with the oldest Leader takes the 1st Player token.[2]
The Turn Sequence
Phase 1: Dawn
1. Replenish the board according to the number of players.[1]
2. Flip this turn's Event card on the Convoy Board face up and apply its effect, along with all effects from previous Events that haven't been Overcome.[1]
Phase 2: Day
1. Players collect Resources in the outside world.[1]
2. Starting with the first player, each player picks one of their Idle Heroes (lying down), places it upright, and moves it 1 or 2 spaces away to a Location where there is no other Hero of the same color.[1]
3. A Hero must move if it can and must end its turn on a different Location than it started.[1][3]
4. A Hero can move up to 2 Locations a turn by following the green arrows that link Locations together.[1][3]
5. You may only have one Hero of your color in a given Location; Heroes may move through Locations occupied by Heroes of the same color but may not stop.[1][3]
6. Heroes may end their movement in Locations where there are Heroes of a different color.[1][3]
7. When a Hero arrives at a new Location, he is placed standing up (Activated).[1]
8. If there are any Activated Heroes sharing the Location with you, your Hero must apply Pressure on other Activated Heroes of inferior Strength; Defending Heroes may spend Munition tokens to decrease applied Pressure.[1]
9. At the end of the Day Phase, players lie all of their Heroes down on the board into the Idle state.[4]
Phase 3: Night
Players manage their Shelters by following these 7 steps:
1. Overcome Events.[4]
2. Feed Survivors.[4]
3. Manage Radioactivity.[4]
4. Recruit new Survivors.[4]
5. Build Rooms and activate Abilities.[4]
6. Repair Equipment.[4]
7. Shelter Upkeep.[4]
Shelter Upkeep Details
* Discard all Meat tokens.[5]
* Keep Canned Goods as they are not perishable.[5]
* Discard all Water tokens except for 2.[5]
* Equipment tiles may be returned to the horizontal position.[5]
The end of Step 7 is the end of the Night Phase.[5] If it is the 6th turn, the Convoy has arrived and the game has ended.[5]

what this block IS: the PASSAGE SEARCH's own results — the same search that fills this page's closest-passages list — and NOT the passages the answerer read. Answering runs its OWN retrieval: a far wider candidate pool, re-ranked down to a final handful, plus floors this search never applies — the base rulebook, surviving errata corrections, and one slot per book on a multi-book read. Each of those armed only if THIS ask sent what it needs: the boost block names the ids it forwarded, and the scope line names the books it read. A document the answer CITES that no row here names is therefore EXPECTED, not a defect: two searches, two candidate pools, two orders. The answerer's own final rows are shown in their own block below, beside these and never mixed into them.

score = the fused retrieval score (reciprocal-rank fusion over the search arms) — NOT a cosine similarity. This ruling ran the THREE-ARM fuse (full-text + vector + the doc-priority boost arm, which carried the base rulebook and/or the errata corrections this query matched), whose arithmetic ceiling is 0.04918 — all three arms ranking the same chunk #1 (ceiling = arms/(k+1) at k=60). The measured healthy band 0.016–0.033 was measured on TWO-arm asks and does not bound this one: its high end is the two-arm ceiling, and a third arm has room above it. A chunk only one arm ranked highly lands near 0.016 (that one arm's #1 vote), so 0.03 here is an excellent hit, not a 3% match.

per-arm ranks (the rank each search arm gave a chunk): NOT DISCLOSED by the gateway. Fusion happens gateway-side and only the FUSED score crosses the wire, so rulesage cannot show them without a gateway change. The rank column below is the FUSED rank (position in the returned list), which is real.

token count per chunk: NOT DISCLOSED — chunk token counts are not reported on the ask path. The character counts below are of the bounded snippet/quote rulesage actually received — a real measurement of what we hold, never an estimate of the chunk.

what this block IS: the passages the ANSWERING read put in front of the answerer, in the order it read them — the other half of the two reads described above, and the one that decides what the answer could possibly say. Each row names the book it came from and where in that book it sits, what it scored when the search arms were fused, which arm carried it there, and whether the re-ranker chose it or a floor guaranteed it a slot. A row here that no passage-search row names is EXPECTED: a far wider pool, re-ranked, with floors the passage search never applies.

candidate pool: the answering read scored 29 passages, out of a ceiling of 80 set gateway-side. Both figures are reported by the gateway for THIS ask — measurements of what actually happened, not constants read out of anyone's source and printed here on faith.

floors armed for this ask: the base rulebook — armed · surviving errata corrections — not armed · one slot per book on a multi-book read — not armed. Every floor is stated on every ask, armed or not, so a floor that did not apply here is never mistaken for one this app does not know about.

arms fused for this ask: vector + full-text + the doc-priority boost arm. Stated separately from the rows because an arm that ran and carried nothing is a different fact from an arm that never ran.

first-token watchdog: 30s per arming window (rulesage.table.first-token-watchdog-seconds), re-armed once by the passages frame — so the worst case before a reader falls back to polling is 60s. Whether it actually fired is a BROWSER-side decision that never reaches the server, so it is not recorded here. The stream path above is the server's half of that story: whether a delta was emitted at all.

both are the CHILD's settings, not rulesage's, and no ask reply carries them — an answer never states which context window or think posture produced it. this game registers NO errata cards (edition 942), so "no registered errata card matched" above could never have matched one

Errata scope: the gate above matched this ruling's own edition only. When an ask also reads an expansion, that expansion's own registered errata cards stay outside the match — a stated phase-1 limitation, not a failed lookup.
