How do I play?

Answered counted as answered

Asked with: Obscuriobg-273477-en-1e

Setup
1. Place the board on the table.[1]
2. Place the Progress marker on the first spot of the Progress track, in the upper part of the board.[1]
3. Choose which player plays as the Grimoire; that player receives the Desk, the 2 Butterfly markers, the card holder, and the hourglass.[1]
4. Shuffle the Illusion cards and place their deck face down next to the Grimoire.[1]
5. The Grimoire draws 8 Illusion cards and places them face up in their card holder, then closes the card holder.[1]
6. All other players choose their Character card and take the matching chip, keeping their card in front of them and placing their chip at the center of the board.[1]
7. Take the Traitor card and add Loyal cards until there are as many Loyalty cards as there are Wizards.[1]
8. Shuffle the cards and deal 1 card to each Wizard; each Wizard secretly looks at their Loyalty card and keeps it hidden.[1]
9. Place the Trap tokens in the bag.[1]
10. Choose a game difficulty.[1]
11. Take the number of Cohesion tokens indicated in the table for your number of players and chosen difficulty level.[1]
12. Place the required number of Cohesion tokens on the dark area of the gauge (with the monster), then place all remaining tokens on the other part of the gauge.[1]
Turn Sequence
Step 1: Turn Setup
1. Draw one or several Trap tokens from the bag and place them in front of the Grimo and (at least 1 token is always drawn).[2]
Step 3: Traitor Cards
1. On the Grimoire's command, the Wizards close their eyes.[3]
2. The Grimoire asks the Traitor to open their eyes and opens the card holder to show the 8 cards numbered #1 to #8.[3]
3. The Traitor may choose a first card by indicating the number with their fingers; the Grimoire places that card face down on top of the Exit card and draws a replacement.[3]
4. The Traitor may then choose a second card, with the Grimoire placing it face down and drawing a replacement.[3]
5. The Grimoire closes the card holder.[3]
6. The Traitor closes their eyes, and on the Grimoire's command, everyone opens their eyes.[3]
Step 4: Choosing a Door
1. If at least one Character chip is in front of the Exit card, the group moves one Room forward by moving the Progress Marker one space forward.[4]
2. If the Progress Marker reaches the last space, the Watcher Trap becomes active for the rest of the game.[4]
3. If a Wizard's chip is not placed, or is placed in front of a wrong door (any door other than the Exit card), they take a Cohesion token from the leftmost area of the gauge (or the dark area if the first is empty) and place it on their Character card.[4]
4. If a player was in front of a wrong door and there is at least one Character chip in front of the Exit card, they take one Cohesion token from the matching area and place it on their Character card.[4]
5. If no one found the Exit card, the group does not progress and the Progress marker does not move.[4]
Step 5: End of the Turn
1. All used Illusion cards are discarded face up next to the board.[5]
2. All Trap tokens are placed back in the bag.[5]
3. All Wizards place their chip at the center of the board.[5]
4. If the last Cohesion token is taken from the first area of the gauge in Step 4, the Accusation Phase begins.[5]
The Accusation Phase
1. Turn the hourglass; Wizards have 1 minute to discuss and try to find the Traitor.[5]
2. When the hourglass runs out, on the count of three, Wizards simultaneously point at a player they believe is the Traitor.[5]
3. Count the votes; the player with the most votes is accused (including all tied players).[5]
4. Accused players reveal their Loyalty card; for each Loyal player falsely accused, 2 Cohesion tokens are lost (placed back in the box).[5]
5. If the Traitor was not accused and Cohesion tokens remain, repeat the phase.[5]
6. If the Traitor was accused and exposed, and Cohesion tokens remain, proceed to the next turn; the Traitor removes their chip from the board and no longer participates in discussions.[5]

what this block IS: the PASSAGE SEARCH's own results — the same search that fills this page's closest-passages list — and NOT the passages the answerer read. Answering runs its OWN retrieval: a far wider candidate pool, re-ranked down to a final handful, plus floors this search never applies — the base rulebook, surviving errata corrections, and one slot per book on a multi-book read. Each of those armed only if THIS ask sent what it needs: the boost block names the ids it forwarded, and the scope line names the books it read. A document the answer CITES that no row here names is therefore EXPECTED, not a defect: two searches, two candidate pools, two orders. The answerer's own final rows are shown in their own block below, beside these and never mixed into them.

score = the fused retrieval score (reciprocal-rank fusion over the search arms) — NOT a cosine similarity. This ruling ran the THREE-ARM fuse (full-text + vector + the doc-priority boost arm, which carried the base rulebook and/or the errata corrections this query matched), whose arithmetic ceiling is 0.04918 — all three arms ranking the same chunk #1 (ceiling = arms/(k+1) at k=60). The measured healthy band 0.016–0.033 was measured on TWO-arm asks and does not bound this one: its high end is the two-arm ceiling, and a third arm has room above it. A chunk only one arm ranked highly lands near 0.016 (that one arm's #1 vote), so 0.03 here is an excellent hit, not a 3% match.

per-arm ranks (the rank each search arm gave a chunk): NOT DISCLOSED by the gateway. Fusion happens gateway-side and only the FUSED score crosses the wire, so rulesage cannot show them without a gateway change. The rank column below is the FUSED rank (position in the returned list), which is real.

token count per chunk: NOT DISCLOSED — chunk token counts are not reported on the ask path. The character counts below are of the bounded snippet/quote rulesage actually received — a real measurement of what we hold, never an estimate of the chunk.

what this block IS: the passages the ANSWERING read put in front of the answerer, in the order it read them — the other half of the two reads described above, and the one that decides what the answer could possibly say. Each row names the book it came from and where in that book it sits, what it scored when the search arms were fused, which arm carried it there, and whether the re-ranker chose it or a floor guaranteed it a slot. A row here that no passage-search row names is EXPECTED: a far wider pool, re-ranked, with floors the passage search never applies.

candidate pool: the answering read scored 18 passages, out of a ceiling of 80 set gateway-side. Both figures are reported by the gateway for THIS ask — measurements of what actually happened, not constants read out of anyone's source and printed here on faith.

floors armed for this ask: the base rulebook — armed · surviving errata corrections — not armed · one slot per book on a multi-book read — not armed. Every floor is stated on every ask, armed or not, so a floor that did not apply here is never mistaken for one this app does not know about.

arms fused for this ask: vector + full-text + the doc-priority boost arm. Stated separately from the rows because an arm that ran and carried nothing is a different fact from an arm that never ran.

watchdog
first-token watchdog: 30s per arming window (rulesage.table.first-token-watchdog-seconds), re-armed once by the passages frame — so the worst case before a reader falls back to polling is 60s. Whether it actually fired is a BROWSER-side decision that never reaches the server, so it is not recorded here. The stream path above is the server's half of that story: whether a delta was emitted at all.
num_ctx · think posture
both are the CHILD's settings, not rulesage's, and no ask reply carries them — an answer never states which context window or think posture produced it. The live-seat line above reads them from the running child instead, where the gateway can answer for itself; it describes the child NOW, not this ask.

this game registers NO errata cards (edition 1069), so "no registered errata card matched" above could never have matched one

Errata scope: the gate above matched this ruling's own edition only. When an ask also reads an expansion, that expansion's own registered errata cards stay outside the match — a stated phase-1 limitation, not a failed lookup.
